Artemisia VanHo is my stage name as a Drag Performer. Through these performances, I am able to embody the things for which I was ridiculed in the past. The parts of myself I had to hide to survive. Through performance as Artemisia, I am able to nurture these sides of myself, heal my femininity, and grow, after having to repress these facets of myself for years. Through this I was able to better navigate my own identity.

Drag and Queer Performance lets me connect to a Queer legacy, and embody the generational joy of my community.

Drag is an integral part of my artistic practice. Through Artemisia I can explore ideas and performances in a more freeing manner, outside the pressures and barriers of the contemporary art world and academia. I am able to approach performance through a lens of liberation, community, joy, and play. Artifacts and residue from these performances make their way into my physical pieces as well.
